Abstract
Purpose:To investigate the affection of special skills and exercise performance of duty police officers in two different time periods between day and night. Methods:Took 40 police officers working in New Taipei City Police Department, as the research objects. All subjects (average age 29.85 6.27 years, height 171.18 3.93 cm, weight 82.18 14.17 kg, and body mass index 27.98 4.21 kg/m2)were divided into (duty during the day service) and (duty during the night service). All subjects maintained normal day and night shifts. The inspection items included:sport shooting (accuracy), the scram reaction (reaction time), standing long jump (power), 50-meter sprint (speed), shuttle run, 10m × 4 trip (agility) to assess the special skills and exercise performance tests. Results:Police officers working in day time and night time reached a significant difference in sport shooting (80.00 9.82 vs. 75.85 12.51 score, p<.05), scram reaction (14.82 0.95 vs. 15.67 1.63 cm, p<.05), standing long jump (190.83 4.42 vs. 187.93 4.41 cm, p<.05), and shuttle run (11.01 3.34 vs. 16.08 6.65 sec, p<.05). Conclusion:As different times of day and night duty police officers, the special skills and exercise performance of day service personnel under normal operation are significantly better than those of night service personnel.
