To reduce the time and toil of rehabilitation person from the hospital and at home, this study aims five rehabilitation actions, i.e., getting up, expanding the chest, pushing palm, lifting the foot, and opening foot, to develop an active rehabilitation system, which can be performed at home. The proposed system is developed by combining Microsoft Kinect body sensor, personnel computer, human-computer interface design and an auxiliary audio. The developed system first uses Kinect sensor to detect the characteristics of human joints skeleton, then applies action judgment algorithm to confirm that user has achieved the actions standard of rehabilitation person. Meanwhile, with the aid of praise sound, the proposed system increases the user’s rehabilitation motivation, improves the rehabilitation sustainability and disperses the pain in rehabilitation. Tests from physically disabled person have proved that the proposed active rehabilitation system is indeed comfortable and convenient than traditional rehabilitation, therefore, is easier acceptable for rehabilitation person.
