Summary: | 碩士 === 國防大學政治作戰學院 === 社會工作碩士班 === 101 === This study deeply interviewed 9 military wives. It employed the gender role theory to explain military wives’ family life and working experiences, and social support perspective to explore how they adapted the press of double burden. It had 6 findings:
1. The military career of spouses was the main factor of affecting military wives’ family life.
2. Military wives were independent.
3. Military wives enjoyed holiday-queenly family life.
4. The achievements and resources military wives gained from career helped them overcome the press of double burden.
5. Military wives pursued self-fulfillment between their career and family responsibilities.
6. Social support networks were the key to help military wives organize the conflict between their family needs and working life.
There are three conclusions of this research. First, military wives had to face the pseudo-single parent family life because of the frequent absence of their spouse. Second, military wives had aspirations for work because it was the best way to cooperate with family life and self-fulfillment. Finally, the decreasing and increasing of social support networks were following the family life cycle of military wives.
