Summary: | 碩士 === 國防大學政治作戰學院 === 心理碩士班 === 101 === The purpose of the present study is to explore how different visual angles shifting from treats to neutral targets in the attention bias modification (ABM) training influences the effect of the ABM training. Previous studies showed that the mechanism of the ABM training which is to disengage one’s attention from negative stimuli. Therefore, the hypothesis of present study is that the bigger the shift of the visual angle is, the better the effect of the ABM training would be. The study was a one-way between subject design. The dependent variable of the study was attention bias score and the emotional reactions in a stressful situation. A total of 145 participants from National Defense University were randomly allocated to three groups: the large-distance group (15°), the small-distance group (5°), and the control group (10°). There were 6 stages in this study. The first stage was to measure participant’s emotional reaction; the second stage was to give the attention bias modification training; the third stage was to measure participant’ s emotional reaction again; the fourth stage was to explain to participants that how to complete the stressful task; the fifth stage was to measure participant’s emotional reaction for the third time; and the sixth stage was to ask participants completing the stressful task. The results indicated that attention bias of the training groups was effectively reduced after the ABM training. In addition, after the training, the emotional reaction to fear of the large-distance group was significantly decreased. In summary, the results support that increasing the visual angle between threats and neutral targets in ABM training could improve the effect of the ABM training.
