In recent years, researchers of worry focused on the worry-related vulnerability “Intolerance of Uncertainty (IU)”. IU plays an important role on inducing worry. However, it still needed to explore the pathways from IU to worry . That is the purpose of the study. The study has two parts. The first part emphasizes whether social problem solving of interpersonal situations is the mediator between IU and worry. The second part focuses on information processing perspective. That is, whether negative appraisal to ambiguous situations is a mediator between IU and worry. Because the scale used in past studies is based on the life experiences in western society, and negative appraisal to ambiguous situations doses not fit to the oriental culture. The study re-constructed a new scale of negative appraisal to ambiguous situations. The study used cross-sectional survey. The results are as follows: In study one, positive problem orientation, negative problem orientation, impulsive (problem solving) style and avoidance style of interpersonal problem solving can significantly predict worry. However, either negative problem orientation or avoidance style is the mediator between IU and worry. In study two, “negative appraisals to ambiguous situations” is the mediator between IU and worry. These results can improve knowledge of the mechanisms of IU and worry. It also contributes the preventive and treatment plans of pathological worry. Key words: worry, intolerance of uncertainty, interpersonal problem-solving, negative appraisals to ambiguous situations Ben-Sheng, Chang 張本聖 2013 學位論文 ; thesis 91 zh-TW |

These results can improve knowledge of the mechanisms of IU and worry. It also contributes the preventive and treatment plans of pathological worry.
