He wrote a variety of works, including art songs, chamber music and piano works. Nocturnes, Barcarolles and Impromptus are the most representative of all 59 piano works. Fauré was influenced by Haydn, Mendelssohn and Chopin in his early creative period from 1875 to 1884. He showed personal feelings based on the Romantic aesthetic. The thesis of this paper is to discuss the early feature of Fauré's piano music. The purpose of the paper is mainly research three Faure’s early compositions, which are the First Nocturne(Op.33, No.1),the First Barcarolle(Op. 26) and the Third Impromptu(Op. 34). Research will include aspects in creative background, aesthetic, form, harmony, rhythm, texture, and motivic development.
