Many children weakened their daily living skills and abilities due to over protective minds by their parents. Because the kitchen is filled with a variety of insecurities, it has become a forbidden place for children. Moreover, because of the different time created the different situations such as family economic pressure, busy-working parents, heavy homework from school, and other factors etc. It resulted the lack of time to get along with parents and children, thus derived the endless social and family problems. Gradually, in what kind of interactions between parents and children are more noticed by the public. As the kitchen is an integral part of the family, this small world contains a lot of available educational resources on the daily life and family, unfortunately, it had rarely been used by parents. Hence, this study aimed to explore the parents-children status in the kitchen, the facing problems, and how to resolve. As the major participants in parents-children-kitchen included parents and children, this study began the viewpoints from the elders (parents, teachers, and experienced cooks). The study selected 5 parents who have 3-year-old children, 5 specialists on early childhood and children education, and 6 cooks with teaching experience as the research objects. And qualitative interviews were used, one to one interview, to collect data, then planned the proper time, activity place, the facing problems and solutions for the participants. First, concerning the time arrangement, the study chose the time which was available for both parents and children to participate. For more considerations, however, the study eliminated the parents’ doubts or negative thoughts, and also gave the psychological support prior to parents-children-kitchen activities. In addition to psychological aspects, the study also arranged the available time in accordance with the different ages, physical condition, and the abilities of children such as the using of common holiday. Because only in sufficient time, it could let the children full participation on the various stages on purchase, processing, cooking, and cleaning up the aftermath etc. If time was not enough, the study arranged the children to participate in some activities. Food-preparing time was limited by the difficulty of cooking and children’s culinary knowledge and skills, it needed to begin by less dangerous activity, step by step. As for place, the study focused on the safety as the primary considerations whether it was at the specific or non-specific places. In other words, the activity needed to consider children's abilities, workplace equipments and budget to select the raw materials, cooking methods, recipes forms and kitchenware etc. As for participants which included parents (elders, teachers), and children. Due to the busy life for most of the parents, it was often difficult to accompany the increased activities. In addition, the participating members should discuss and negotiate with each other. The preference for cooking activities would affect the participant wishes and feelings, however, kids can express their unique senses during the process of preparing dishes, then it could produce the sense of accomplishment and pleasurable experience under the optimistic and positive attitude. Also children could learn and grow from the engagement processes, then to cultivate imagination and stimulate the independent thinking. Furthermore, kids could cultivate the better patience, concentration, observation and ad hoc response capability by way of cooking process. Based upon the above parents-children kitchen activities, some concrete purposes and benefits could be reached such as added parents-children interaction, promoted family members to learn and grow from each other and improved the quality of family life.
