Quantitative collections were made once a month by Surber Sampler (area= 50 x 50 cm2; mesh=250 µm) from October 2010 to April 2011. Samples were taken randomly in 4 different habitats (riffle, glide, pool and run) at 5 sites, and the environmental variables (water depth and current velocity) were measured at the same time. Two species were recorded in this present work: Choroterpes taiwanensis and Habrophlebiodes tenella. Both of them preferred the habitat with slow velocity (glide) (Chi-square goodness of fit tests, p<0.001). The major food type in the foregut contents of these two species was amorphous detritus which accounted for 90.4% of the forgut content for C. taiwanensis and 90.6% for H. tenella. The food types of diatom and filamentous algae accounted for 4.7% and 0.5%, resspectively, for C. taiwanensis, and 4.0% and 3.1% for H. tenella. Analysis of particle size of algae indicated that algae that were less than 20µm were the major portion (69%) in the foregut content of C. taiwanensis, and there was no algae over 50µm. H. tenella also ingested large amount (63%) of 20µm particle size, but algae over 100µm were not found. The result of foregut contents combined with observation of labium and maxillae structure to assign both of C. taiwanensis and H. tenella to brusher. Shieh, Senher 謝森和 2012 學位論文 ; thesis 65 zh-TW
