Summary:博士 === 中國文化大學 === 史學系 === 101 === The Klesan group of the Atayal Tribe is the major study subject for this thesis, which lives in the area of the Hoping River and Nan River of Nanau, border between Yilan and Hualien. Such group had moved continuously to the Hanxi Village, Datong and Nanau, Yilan County between 1912 and 1963. Moreover, considering the integrity of the historical development, the neighboring communities are also mentioned in this work. This study focuses on the modernization process of the Klesan group. The writer intents to discuss the immigration history of the Klesan group in the XVIII century, the community expansion in the mountains and formation of the tribe, the control of the national power toward the ethnic space and the people in the tribe and the road system in the mountains from three aspects, tribal history, ethnic space and national power. After the long term document study, mountain field investigation, interview with the elders and map analysis, the write presents the tribal conflict, the loss of the traditional territory, the intervention of the national power and the cultural change, which the Taiwanese aborigine, the Klesan group has faced in these 300 years to integrate with the modern society.
