Description
Summary:碩士 === 中國文化大學 === 新聞學系 === 101 === As technology advances, nowadays people can record anything anywhere they want. They commonly use their handycam or mobile phone to record anything or put anything they heard or saw in writing, then post it in their blog or social or sharing media on the internet. The mainstream mass media, traditionally assumed to have competence in presenting and distributing information to people, is often slower than the people witnessing a news event and then record or report that information right at the spot. This condition has lent itself to the rise of citizen journalism and the increase of the need of information. Nowadays some traditional media try to do either technological or telecommunications convergence, embracing the new technology. They try to combine their news from their own version with those from citizen journalists to get the most updated information. Considering this situation, the researcher is interested in doing a research on the reception analysis of Indonesian student contribution on news content of citizen journalism in Indonesia (Study Case of “Wide Shot” Citizen Journalism Program on Metro TV). This research is aimed at comparing the audience responses and/or reception to the news from two different of media sources (citizen journalism and mainstream media). In order to obtain deep result, the researcher collect the data from Indonesian college students from different backgrounds and various departments from several universities in Yogyakarta, Indonesia through Focus Group Discussion on four different news videos that were produced by both mainstream media and four videos from citizen journalists. The samples are divided into several groups based on certain characteristics with the purpose of finding out various reason and reception position to news content of the aforementioned news producers.
