Summary: | 碩士 === 中國文化大學 === 心理輔導學系 === 101 === The purpose of this study was to investigate the correlation of forbearance behavior and love relationship quality in Taiwan. Samples were collected by Internet. The sample consisted of 380 unmarried men and women. The main research tool in this study included “Forbearance Behavior Scale” and “Love Relationship Rating Form”. Data was analyzed by means of t-test, one-way ANOVA and canonical correlation. The main findings were as follow:
1. For forbearance behaviors, there were significant gender differences. Males had higher scores than females. However, there was no significant difference in age, the number of times in love relationship, and the duration of love.
2. There were significant gender differences in the scores of acceptance/ respect. Males had higher scores than females. There was significant age difference in conflict/ ambivalence; the group of elder got higher scores than the group of younger. Both the number of times in love relationship and the duration of love made no significant differences to love relationship quality.
3. Forbearance behaviors and love relationship quality were positively correlated. When people were more tolerant and endurant in their behavior, their love relationship quality was more like “acceptance/ respect.” When people were more endurant, their love relationship quality was less like “conflict/ ambivalence.” Forbearance behaviors could predict the quality of love relationship. The overall prediction power is 10.2% and the power of prediction was medium. Moreover, “acceptance/ respect” and “tolerances” were more powerful in predicting love relationship quality. Means, the more people showed tolerance and endurance to each other, the better love relationship quality they had.
Finally, the implication of this study was discussed and advices were provided as a reference to future consulting work and related research.
