Summary: | 碩士 === 中國文化大學 === 中山與中國大陸研究所中山學術組 === 101 === The advent of an aging society and family care function decline, highlights the dilemma of needed care for the disabled elderly from family members. The purpose of this study is to explore the role changes of primary caregivers and the changes of family intergenerational relationship after the disabled elders use long-term care (including foreign care workers’ service).
The study focuses on the following issues:
1.Women’s caring role and caring dilemma.
2.The decision process of the family members becoming the caregiver or seeking alternative solution.
3.The role changes of the original caregivers and their mental status after the disabled elderly using long-term care (including foreign care workers’ service).
4.The changes of family intergenerational relationship after the disabled elders using long-term care (including foreign care workers’ service).
By using semi-structured questionnaire and field investigation, the families that live with disabled elderly around Taipei City, were interviewed. This research focuses on the relationship between original caregivers and families, base on purposive samples from different modes of long-term care. From the result of the research, it shows: (1) On the progresses of making decisions to get the service of long-term care for elders, there are four modes of the participation of family members. (2) Female caregivers have more time for their own life by getting the service of long-term care, including hiring foreign nursing assistance. (3) After the change of role, there will have positive growth of the concordance keeping when the responsibilities of attendance decrease. (4) The quality of family relationship doesn’t have negative evaluation from getting long-term care, including hiring foreign nursing assistance.
