This paper research is divided into hardware and firmware design two parts. This using NXP 1768 core controller chip of Hand-held Vehicle Diagnostic Instrument, and with 122*32 screen as a display diagnostic messages to hardware part. Firmware section a standard ISO 14230 physical layer, data link layer, transport layer, network layer and application layer(ISO 14230-1, ISO 14230-2, ISO 14230-3), as this article written by a vehicle communication protocol diagnostic application planning. Hand-held Vehicle Diagnostic Instrument startup, the system of K-Line conversion circuit and DLC3 diagnostic connector, and Varica engine ECU connection, directed by button to retrieve ECU fault code analysis, displayed on the screen, providing a vehicle maintenance industry to use.
This paper research and development of Hand-held Vehicle Diagnostic Instrument, portable and easy to operate interface; it can provide a general check before driving motorists, but also to provide basic test when used as a vehicle, the future can be updated via a firmware program, providing more than vehicles used simultaneously.
