Both the traditional lighting fixtures and the high-power lighting fixtures will be gradually replaced by LED lighting luminaries. As for the traditional RGB full color LED displays, most of the suppliers are focusing on the development of grey color output or high refresh rate, which are basically used to improve the display or color performance. What can we do to improve the energy-saving of LED full color displays? The main test of this study is to add 1 white color LED in each RGB pixel. The lighting emitting efficiency of white color LED is higher than the others. When the white color LED is used, the current of RGB color LED will be reduced, which will helps to save energy. There are 4 main portions of this thesis. The first portion is the introduction of the basic knowledge of regular LED full color displays. The second portion is the study of the system structure of LED display system structure and the control of operation software. The third portion is indicating the estimation of white balance and the calculation of brightness. The forth portion is the comparison of the power consumption between RGB and RGBW displays.
