They include browsing Internet, taking pictures, locating, navigation, listening to music, watching videos, or remote control of home appliances. These smart phones have features such as: easy to carry, fast internet connection, multimedia processing, and etc.
Therefore, this study, is to investigate the use of multi-functional smart phones, combined with cloud image recognition system to develop an image recognition and identification system to replace a manual entry system which is often inconvenient.
Application software was implemented, and the recognition and identification results were tested. The techniques of cloud optical character recognition were discussed, and how they affect the results of recognition.
In this paper, the aim is to pursue a system that is easy to use, with lower development cost, and high recognition and identification effectiveness. Basic recognition and identification tests are conducted as well.
This system is to utilize the smartphone shooting function as the front-end data acquisition tool for a vehicle registration management system. It uses the Android operating system as the development platform. The cloud Web OCR system is connected to recognize the texts of the plate, and a backend database server is connected for queries. As a result, the vehicle registration information is searched and retrieved.
Based on the results of the tests, the convenience of future cloud services and the accuracy of cloud OCR recognition has been proved.
