The dipping sonar AQS-18 of it fulfills the functions of detecting submarines, so AQS-18 is the indispensable reconnaissance equipment. The breakdown of AQS-18 sonar transducers is happening with increasing frequency, and the root cause of the breakdowns is that the efficiency of storage batteries declines. Now, to repair AQS-18 is sorely relaying on the local sales distributor and the original factory for repair service. Therefore, not only that the repair cost is extremely high, but also the overall duration of the repair time frame can be as long as 9 to 24 months. Under such situation , the AQS-18 was not able to effectively support the military drill. After few years of researching and studying on sonar technology and accumulation of sonar system maintenance experience progressively matured over time, the development of the repair technology on sonar transducer and the storage battery repair has persistently advanced. Standardized repair work process and after repair acceptance testing procedures to check before acceptance has been successfully established. Such establishment could not only successfully reduce the overall repair cost and repair time of the equipment, but also could increase the availability and effectiveness of the AQS-18 anti-submarine system. In the future 21st century, China has been putting a great amount of focus into its national defense and military upgrades. Compare to Taiwan, China increased greatly its military force and has made China one of the major fire power on an international scale. Hence, we are more focused on the advancement of the effectiveness and efficiency to utilize our existing equipment, and should maximize its optimal defense capability.
