Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立臺灣科技大學 === 專利研究所 === 101 === This thesis is about a study of patent portfolios and technical development in automated cleaning robots. This thesis including three parts: analyses of patent map, important patents and technical development tendency. Because the industry of cleaning robot has become more popular, searching and analyzing patents of cleaning robot is important and necessary, the thesis will focus on these subjects. In the beginning, searching the cleaning robot patents from the United States Patent information database, then analyzing it and forming it to patent maps in order to obtain the status about technology information of this industry. A patent map shows that one important assignee is Irobot company whose important patents are valued to analysis further. By analyzing claims of these patents, the changes of claims of these continuation patents, and histories of patent application prosecution of amend information of these patents, we can find the portfolios about how Irobot arrangements these claims. And then, the technical development tendency pictures of important manufacturers according to patents will be established, every patents of manufacturers are listed with timeline in the tendency pictures to explore the process of technical development, and then analyzing it to find the new ideas to development. By the aforementioned results, the patent maps show gradual growth in the number of patents of cleaning robot, and the inventions of these patents focus primarily on indoor navigation, structural characteristics and obstacle avoidance. The analyzing of important patents shows that Irobot applys a series of continue patent applications with an invention conception to get a large number of patents in the short term. The technical development tendency analysis shows that the future developments of the cleaning robot may be combined with other features, such as medical care, wireless charging, security service and other functions.
