Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立臺灣科技大學 === 材料科學與工程系 === 101 === Medical device surface must demonstrate several characteristics. First, metal ions, monomers, plasticizers, and other agents that may be released from the medical device surface must not cause cell toxicity or loss of device function. Furthermore, the surface must have sufficient fatigue, wear, and adhesion properties to resist the large, cyclical stresses that are encountered [1]. Metallic glasses with the disordered atomic structure have unique properties of high strength, high toughness, good corrosion and abrasion resistances. These materials are thus potentially useful for the medical application. In this work, we evaluate the durability of materials sputter-coated with Zr-based (Zr53Cu33Al9Ta5) thin film metallic glasses (TFMGs). These medical tools coated with TFMGs expect to have excellent sharpness and durability because of the absence of grain boundary. The blade sharpness index (BSI) of these coated steels will be characterized and evaluated. The results will be discussed in light of deposition conditions and properties obtained. Good adhesive coating of Zr-based TFMG on the dermatome gives rise to blade sharpness improvement, substantial surface roughness reduction and smoother incised wound on the pig skin.
