碩士 === 國立臺灣藝術大學 === 戲劇學系 === 101 === 　　Many of Xian-Yong Bai 's novels, including adaptations from his works, have been explored for a long time. However, research on Wandering in the Garden, Waking from a Dream, the only script of Bai, is limited and fragmented. In this thesis, the author analyzes the text and contexts of Wandering in the Garden, Waking from a Dream in six chapters. The first three chapters include introduction, research methods, and Bai's life together with and the well-known episode of Peony Pavilion. The following three chapters concentrate on the theme, plot, characters, and structure by employing and the theory of drama. Wandering in the Garden, Waking from a Dream expressed Kun Opera through lines. The fate of Kun Opera combined with the fate of the character and the vicissitudes of history. This element is the best representative of Bai's style.
