The present study aimed at probing the influence of teaching designs on the learning skills of jump rope of mental retardation students, and it was discussed in a constraint-led perspective. The participants were seven mental retardation students in the special education class of a junior high school. Through the activities designed under task constraints, the interactions between the students and jump ropes were observed. The students practiced jumping rope twice a week within each 45 minutes. They had twenty classes in total, over ten weeks of practices. The objective skills were examined after each stage of practice to collect the number of times the students successfully jumped rope.
