To understand the status quo is the first priority of education and counseling and we anticipate the results from the research will help junior high school students correct their attitudes and the ways to pursue beauty and develop a positive self-image. Young teenagers are the focus of the research. This research has adopted purposive sampling which included students from the seventh to the ninth grade students from Taipei in 2011 as research samples. A total of 1133 questionnaires were distributed and the valid questionnaires were 848 (405 boys and 443 girls), with a completion rate of 74.85%. The research tool was the study questionnaire used to measure of the junior high school students’ attitudes towards cosmetic plastic surgery, including the 5 following scales like personal information, the body image scale, scale of the media message, self-concept scale and attitude scale towards plastic surgery. The findings are as follows, 1. The higher the degree of the subjects’ attention on appearance, overweight and the lower satisfaction on their body parts, the higher the subjects’ action intention to have plastic surgery. 2. The higher the degree of the subjects’ agreement to media and the lower the disagreement of media criticism, the better the general evaluation of the subjects’ attitudes towards plastic surgery. 3. The lower the degree of the subjects’ self-concept and the higher action intention, the higher the possibility of having the intention to undergo plastic surgery is. Even if the students’ action intention is low, the general evaluation of the plastic surgery has been better, so we should help students to establish a positive body image and self-concept. Moreover, we have to enhance students’ media literacy education on plastic surgery in order to help them obtain the correct information sources. 王明泉 2012 學位論文 ; thesis 86 zh-TW
