Abstract
The study is to find out the current situation of the population background, participative motivation and barrier factor in athletic contestants on the Junior high school of Taitung County, and to compare the different population backgrounds of the contestants on the diversity situation of the motivations of participating and barrier factors.
Adopting the convenience sampling survey that conducted a total of 579 valid questionnaires was obtained. And then to put the use of the descriptive statistics, independent samples t-test, independent sample one-way ANOVA, Scheffe’s comparison and Pearson’s correlation to conduct data analysis. The results showed that:
1. As the "male" athletic contestants accounted for a majority (65.8%) in the junior high school of Taitung County; the largest group is the 7th grade contestants as the highest number (38.4%); non-aboriginal contestants accounted for 26.4%; aboriginal contestants as "the Ami "accounted for 36.4% of the highest proportion: and the scores of the students’academic achievement tests "60~69" as the highest number (32.8%).
2. The overall participation and motivation is 85.2956 points for the athletic contestants of Taitung County junior high school, the average score on each question is 4.0616 points. It has a high degree in the recognition of participating motivation, attention levels in order are: "sport enjoyment", "reward to encourage" "the needs for achievement", "growing demands" and "the relationships."
3. The overall factor of impediments is 41.6420 points for the athletic contestants of Taitung County junior high school, each title average score is 3.4701 points, and the recognition on the range of the barrier is medium to high degree. The three dimensions of cause to the hindering factors, in addition to the average score of the factors on the "Structural impediments" and "Intra-personal constraints" which were higher than the average score, and less than the total average scores of 3.4701 points, the score of 3.6800 points on the "interpersonal hindered" is the highest, the second highest is "structural impediments" for the average score reach to 3.3911 points.
4.The participation motives have significant differences on the different "gender" of athletic contestants in Taitung County junior high school.
5. The barrier factors have significant diversities in different "grades".
6. In between of the motivations of participating and the factor of barriers have a significant negative correlation on the athletic contestants of Taitung county junior high school.
