Based on the harm of imprisonment and the spirit of community intervention, social labor had been implemented in US and UK for many years, but in 2009, it was just carried out in Taiwan, so the social laborer’s successful reintegration under many barriers were the new topics for further researches. The researcher collected associated articles and tried to explore the former criminal career of the suspend crime and the meaning and impact of social labor on them; furthermore, the researcher probed the factors making them accomplish social labor on time and facilitating their successful reintegration in the process of social integration. In the end, the researcher tried to understand their life situation after reintegration and explored the association with social labor. This qualitative research selected and adopted purposive sampling and in-depth interview. We chose criminals who had at least three former crime records which included offenses against public safety, fraud, larceny and offences causing bodily harm and no official or self-reporting crime records during the 2 years after accomplishing their social services (2010-12-31 to 2013-4-30) as our targets. There were 3 eligible social laborers and they described their process of reintegration and their life difficulties in this study. The research found that impaired familial, marital, school and occupational bonding with delinquent peer’s accompanying leaded individuals into criminal career. Nevertheless, those impacts would transform themselves into fair controlled bonding after the appearance of important others in their lives, transition of critical life events and enhancement of self–awareness, and then brought about regular life style; stopped their criminal career and facilitated reintegration. Among these, social labor became a turning point to desist crime because of their punitive character, giving rise to self-reflection and being a connection between criminals and their family, marriage, peers and working. Based on these findings, in order to carry our the goodness of social labor, the government, civil organization and all should support the social laborer; create beneficial environment for reintegration, strengthen propagation for acceptance, broaden the utility of social labor and bring social labor into after-care system.
