The study was based on the qualitative research method to deeply understand the parenting experience of a mother ofan autistic person through interviewing, reading documents, participant observing their interaction and research diary.
The research proposed three questions, described as follows: First, what kinds of the parenting experience did a mother have for parenting anautistic person? Second, how did a mother develop her parenting experience? Third, what kinds of meaning did a mother have for her parenting experience of anautistic person?
The outcome of research was developed through deep interviews and participant observation and presented into three parts. The first part described the parenting experience of a mother of anautistic person from the childhood to the graduation from the vocational senior high school. The second part described how the parenting experience of a mother of an autistic personwas developed through the framework of three theories: Archetypes, Acorn Theory, and Synchronicity. The third part described the meaning obtained from the parenting experience of a mother of an autistic person.
Finally, the suggestions of the research were provided based on the outcomes of the research described above.
