After graduating from the first session of Fu Shin Kang College, since then, Tzeng-Shiang Deng had created one hundred and ninety-three songs in different types, such as military songs, patriotic songs, kunstlieder, popular songs, cartoon songs, clear songs and other songs. As those cartoon songs played an important role in Taiwan, he was known as the influential person in the history of Taiwan cartoon songs. This study was aimed at exploring the music content and the educational meanings of Mr. Deng’s songs. The first chapter described the background and the educational meanings of early Taiwanese cartoon songs and employed documentary analysis to discuss them. The second chapter introduced Mr. Deng’s life and his acoustic creation with content analysis by arranging the record of face-to-face interview and related documents provided by Mr. Deng, like personal documentary reports and manuscripts. Based on these data, I even tried to classify and analyze further. The third chapter was to analyze Mr. Deng’s cartoon songs through the section number, the time signature, the speed, note organization, the melody interval of the tune configuration, tempo form and musical configuration. The last chapter was to analyze the sentence pattern,the style,the paragraph and sentence,the time configuration, the rhythm of the lyrics form and then performed statistics and the percentage analysis of each item. By the documentary arrangement and analysis in this thesis to explore the musical characteristic and the educational meanings of the Mr’s Deng’s cartoon songs, I expected that it could be traced us back to the merry time of singing cartoon songs. Moreover, it also provided TV stations, music educators, children’s songs composers, and people who were interested in cartoon songs as being concrete and useful reference for the subsequent researchers.
