Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立臺北教育大學 === 社會與區域發展學系碩士班 === 101 === Place Location Knowledge (PLK) is essential for Geography Learning and Geographical literacy because it can help learners build up authentic geography knowledge. In order to achieve this goal, traditional geography teaching principle applies blank map, which only improves students’ memorization of coordinates instead of their spatial thinking. The purpose of the study is to improve the traditional teaching principle with” The Great Pilot”, a digital game which integrates Adobe Flash, ASP, Google Map and provides students an on-line platform to promote their PLK. The game targets the knowledge about countries in Asia. It includes three parts – “Fly To The Global Village,” a jigsaw puzzle, ”International Traveling Is Fun, ” a Google Map interactive game and “Crazy Ground Service,” a question game. Each part has three levels based on difficulties. In order to evaluate the efficacy, the researcher chose two schools in Taoyuan County as samples. One is a junior high school and the other is a high school. Students should play the game with Asia PLK pre-and post-tests and users’ satisfaction survey. All their answers were under Pearson Correlation Analysis. The results show that “The Great Pilot” can improve students’ PLK of nation. It points out a relationship between economy development, print media and students’ PLK. Besides, the comparative distance in Taiwan is related to students’ spatial thinking. In addition, there is no strong relationship between the size of the state and politic stability. The result also shows that students’ knowledge about North Asia is better. After playing the game, students felt enriched and glad to take this game as a supplemental learning tool. This study is expected to be a reference material for geography teachers.
