In the action research, the researcher integrated spider-web mapping, chain mapping and hierarchy mapping in the reading class to find out whether they can assist the second graders in their comprehension of the characters, settings and plots of the texts. The participants’ attitudes toward reading after the implementation of the action research were also examined. The participants are twenty seven second graders in the primary school where the researcher teaches in Louzhou District, New Taipei City. The research lasted ten weeks and was divided into four stages with a total of twenty three sessions. The data was collected by classroom observation, interviews, self reflection and texts analysis. Reading comprehension tests and questionnaires of reading attitudes were also administered after the teaching. The findings of the research are as follows: 1. The researcher designed teaching activities in Mandarin class for second graders in which concept mapping were introduced. Via the visualization of the text, the participants could gain a better access to the wonderful world of reading. 2. The reading comprehension of participants is significantly improved after the implementation of the research. However, there is no significant improvement of the participants’ attitudes toward reading. 3. Action research is one effective way for teachers’ professional development. Based on the results of the study, suggestions are proposed for future teaching and research. 孫劍秋 2012 學位論文 ; thesis 203 zh-TW
