A Study of Senior Citizen’s Learning Space and Sense of Well-beings at Zhong He District in New Taipei City

The main purpose of this study is to understand the senior citizen’s learning space and sense of well-beings at Zhong He District in New Taipei City through personnel interview、survey and geographical field work. After collecting and analyzing data, we found the result through statistic methods as follows: The senior citizen’s learning space at Zhong He District can be divided into 3 periods which has its own unique developing character：before 70s, 70s~90s and after 90s. Each period has four learning classes; “Social Service” class is most actively participated by the elders. The elders, who live with spouses, whose education is at least senior high school, social and physical needs to be taken care of, emphasize more in “ Art and Culture” classes. The 50~60 years old female younger elders, who has 10 plus social friends with disposable income under NT$ 20,000 per month, prefer to join “Physical and Exercise” class. Of the above three learning space, the elders participate most is “Clubs/Association Style Space”. Those elders who are illiterate and social with their own friends everyday tend to choose “School Style Space” . The 56-60 years old female younger elders, who have monthly income of $10K-$30K, with good social network communicate daily with friends are more inclined to choose "Parks and recreational space". As for Sense of Well-beings part, the 50-60 years old younger elders who are highly financial stable feel the sense of “ Progressive Culture” . “ Devotion” is for almost all senier citizen who live with their spouse and have outgoing personality .
