We used energy dispersive X-ray fluorescence (EDXRF) to measure the composition of Co-Ni nanoparticles; we used X-ray diffraction (XRD) to determine the structure with alloy phase diagram, we used scanning electron microscopy (SEM) to study the surface morphology. We investigated hysteresis curve and coercivity by using vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM). We found that boric acid acts as not only a buffering agent but also a diffusion barrier . Boric acid can adsorb on ITO and decrease current density. When the applied working potential is negative enough, hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) reacts on magnetic nanoparticles which makes the adsorbed boric acid to dissociate.
