The sediment samples were digested by 1N HCl acid and aqua regia, respectively. The digested solutions were analyzed the As, Fe, and major elements by ICP-MS. The As concentrations in the 1N HCl acid and aqua regia ranged within 0.46-26.7 mg/kg and 3.20-142.36 mg/kg, respectively. The As concentrations differed significantly between the different analysis, suggesting that the sediment of the Love River was significantly modified by the river flow. Most of the As values exceeded the upper limit of the EPA regulation (33mg/kg). The enrichment factor of As ranged within 14.09-113.82, indicating that the Love River was seriously polluted by As. With exception of K, the concentrations of the analyzed elements in1N HCl acid could achieve 10-40% of the total concentrations, and the percentage was higher in the lower river region. Finally, As generally positively correlated with the other elements, but inversely correlated with the sediment size, suggesting that concentrations of analyzed elements were influenced by the sediment size.
