There is no specific treatment can prevent or delay the aging and damaged cartilage. Glucosamine is used in the treatment of osteoarthritis received considerable attention, retard cartilage degradation in osteoarthritis. Arthritis affecting the quality of life of individuals rived using glucosamine to relieve arthritis symptoms in the most recent years by the national attention. Purpose of this study to investigate in northern Taiwan on glucosamine usage and consumer behavior, discuss the consumer experience in the use of glucosamine and product attributes of awareness and analysis of different trading of consumers in the purchase motivations and considerations on the purchase distinct differences. The subjects were Keelung, Taipei City / New Taipei City, Tao County / City, Hsinchu County / City and other northern regions, people as objects, using self-administered questionnaire, in December 2012 in the northern region to distribute questionnaires were 368 questionnaires, a total of 300 valid samples, the questionnaire data into Excel computer data files; then SPSS 18.0 statistical software version and Excel software for statistical analysis. Studies show: Glucosamine related products were purchased by women (58%), aged 51 to 60 years (28%), education university or college (42.6%), the average monthly income of 30,001 to 50,000 (41.4%), glucosamine usage continues in daily consumption of 222 people (74%), and 78 people without food (26%), the frequency of consumption of glucosamine products with "every day" a maximum (36.4%), edible Glucosamine time related products as "one ~ two years," a maximum (40.6%), the monthly amount spent to buy "601 ~ 900," a maximum (31.5%), purchase information sources most experience with friends and family (28.6 %). Buy Glucosamine related products "discount stores" and "health food stores" a maximum (21.3%), consumers considering the purchase of glucosamine factors related to the product itself "Product Features" a maximum (21.7%). With age and educational level of its edible glucosamine also showed significant differences, and therefore the questionnaire respondents can show whether glucosamine for arthritis patients is to reduce pain, inflammation or inhibit the effects have shown consent.
