The purpose of the study is to understand the related factors about body weight of high school students. There are 990 effective questionnaires that were completed between JUN 2012.The subjects are 12-18 years old adolescents. 22.2% of them are underweight, 57.3% are normal weight, 10.0% are overweight and 10.8% are obese. The subjects get the major information about weight-control from media and school.
Eighty percent of the subjects expect to change their body weight and one half of them are under weight-control. There are some incorrect concepts that 40% of them expect weight controlled rapidly during the short period.
Because one eighth of the senior high school students and above one half of the junior high school students take appropriate sport that 30% of the subjects think motivation-control method is difficult. Although the subjects know that diet and sport are the best two methods, 30% of the subjects think that dietary-control method is difficult owing to there being some wrong knowledge in dietary.
The relatively negative habits about body weight of the subjects are eating fried food and desserts, eating midnight snacks, not chewing carefully and swallowing slowly, eating meal and watching TV at the same time and sleeplessness. The relatively positive habits about body weight of the subjects are frequently weighting, moderate dietary behavior, eating enough fruits and vegetables, eating whole grain, eating soy bean products and eating fat-free or low fat dairy products.
