Summary:碩士 === 國立臺南大學 === 特殊教育學系碩士班 === 101 === The purpose of this research was to explore the Chinese Braille literacy skills for teacher of students with visual impairments, including the “competencies in writing Chinese Braille” , the ”competencies in reading Chinese Braille” ,and the “competencies of knowledge related to braille” . The research adopted the questionnaire survey approach, having the teachers of students with visual impairments from across the entire country as the research target, with the expectation to gain an overall comprehention of the Chinese Braille literacy skills for teachers of students with visual impairments. The study surveyed 160 teachers of students with visual impairments. Participants submitted a completed self-assessment survey on the Chinese Braille literacy skills. Totally 153 questionnaires were sent out, of which 132 were valid, representing a recovery rate of 86.9%. The results were summarized as follows: 1. In general, teachers of students with visual impairments showed fair to good results on their performances on “competencies in writing Chinese Braille”, ” competencies in reading Chinese Braille”, and competencies of knowledge related to braille”. 2. The teachers of students with visual impairments had their best performance on “competencies in writing Chinese Braille” ,and their weakest performance on “competencies of knowledge related to braille”. 3. Their performance on writing Chinese Braille by using a brailler showed outstanding results, while on the contrary, their performance on explaining the system and demonstrating functions of braille-computer didn’t show fair results. 4. The Chinese Braille literacy skills for teachers of students with visual impairments was significantly different among each different variables. Finally, the results of this study serve as a proposal and suggestions for the education administrators, visual impairment personnel preparation programs, the teachers of students with visual impairments, and futher researchers.
