ABSTRACT
The study investigated the current situations of the Taichung City elementary school teachers’ recreational activities participation and leisure constraints. The research method applied was questionnaire survey. Survey questionnaires were sent to officially employed elementary school teachers who were serving in Taichung city. All 600 questionnaires were issued, 536 were returned and 84% were valid. Data were analyzed by the SPSS17.0, including the descriptive statistics, t-test, and single-factor variable analysis and the Scheffé post hoc tests. The study results are as follow:
1. The sequence of the Taichung City elementary school teachers’ recreational activities participation types are " family activity", " knowledge activity", "leisure activities", "entertainment type", "social activities", "sports type", and "hobby interest activities."
2. The sequence of the Taichung City elementary school teachers’ leisure constraints factors are the " climate factor", " individual factor","environment factor", and " society factor".
3.The different background variables of Taichung City elementary school teachers’ recreational activities participation, including the marital status, the faculty seniority, the school size, and taught classes had significant differences; the gender, the age, the number of kids, the education degree and the school zone had partial significant differences, and the economic conditions has no significant difference.
4.The different background variables of Taichung City elementary school teachers’ leisure constraints, including the school size and taught classes had significant differences; the gender had partial significant differences and the age, the marital status, the number of kids, the education degree, the faculty seniority the school district, and the economic conditions has no significant .
