Chinese unit instruction on vocabulary learning for students with intellectual
disabilities.Units are components of Chinese characters. Its size is between about
between strokes and character.Thus, units of literacy characters to learn the
composition, that is, the full character into several parts. By learning the common
units or units with high constitutive word to word formation, you can use these
units to learn other vocabulary, or expand their vocabulary.
A single-subject experimental design of multiple probes design across
subjects was used in this study. The subjects of this study were three students with
intellectual disabilities. The independent variable of this study was using
Multimedia Chinese unit Instruction, and the dependent variable was the effect of
learning vocabulary. Graphs,Visual analysis and the C statistic were used in this
study in order to analyze the assessment and understand the subjects in the overall
score of each subtest situation.
Results of this study were summarized as followings:
(a) After subjects receiving multimedia Chinese unit instruction, their assessment of
the effectiveness of the overall literacy scores significantly increasing trend
immediately, and has maintainable effects.
(b) After subjects receiving multimedia Chinese unit instruction, their assessment
of the effectiveness of literacy "phonics" subtest scores significantly increasing
trend immediately, and has maintainable effects.

(c) After subjects receiving multimedia Chinese unit instruction, their assessment of
the effectiveness of literacy " font-identification" subtest scores significantly
increasing trend immediately, and has maintainable effects.
(d) After subjects receiving multimedia Chinese unit instruction, their assessment
of the effectiveness of literacy " coinage" subtest scores significantly increasing
trend immediately, and has maintainable effects.
(e) Subjects of multimedia Chinese unit instruction were held positive attitudes.
According to the above results,some recommendations for the teaching and
further studies were recommended.
