Summary: | 碩士 === 國立中山大學 === 公共事務管理研究所 === 101 === This research is to explore that through transformational leadership of police
organizations to internalize values that the police is willing to give extra hard working,
achieve assertiveness and sense of honor, deliver effectiveness of service attitude and
promote police’s performance which are key points that this research explored. In
order to understand differences among transformational leadership, work values and
service attitude of police under different background variables and analyze
relationship of mediation effect of work values toward transformational leadership
and service attitude, this research summarized the results and brought up suggestions
as references for police authorities and personnel. This research adopted Quantitative
Questionnaire Research Method and the police officers from Kaohsiung City Police
Department were survey with questionnaires. 450 questionnaires were distributed to
the sample subject of this research and 442 were retrieved. The main findings in this
research are as follows:
I. The chief has significant influence on the police’s work values through
transformational leadership.
II. The police’s work values has significant influence on service attitude.
III. The police’s work values has mediation effect on transformational leadership and
service attitude.
IV. The chiefs and the cadre members of police organizations can inspire the police
to identify with the organizations and actively perform hard, increase the police’s
work values of mission and prompt the police have more solidarity and sense of
belonging through transformational leadership. It can make the police to accept
concept of leader imperceptibly and improve administrative efficiency and work
performance.
V. The research method is questionnaire method that uses quantitative approach as

main point to present obtained verifying phenomenon. However, the quantitative
approach still cannot fully cover aspects in transformational leadership, work
values and service attitude of the police. The researches in the future can adopt
qualitative research and experimental method to obtain causal relationship
between each variable. Moreover, the population of this research is limited to the
police of Kaohsiung City Police Department. The scope of research can be
further extended to other police authorities nationwide to make it more
representative, complete and abundant.
