One of the most viable solar energy utility is the solar hot water system. In this study, a three-dimensional CFD program is employed to simulate the field in the storage tank of a large solar hot water system. The storage tank simulation is coupled with a system simulation program, TRNSYS, to simulate the entire solar hot water system. The parameters for the storage tank including the number of stratification baffles in the tank and the location of hot water outlet are studied. Also, the effects of the load supplying time on the system performance are studied including tL1 (12:00 to 18:00), tL2 (12:00 to 00:00) and tL3 (24hr). The study was done for three representative cities in Taiwan, i.e. Taipei、Taichung and Kaohsiung. The results indicate that the case with load time tL1 provides the best solar fraction. The more the number of baffles in the storage tank, the better the thermal stratification and therefore the better the system performance can be achieved. The results of the present study can provide system design references. Ru Yang 楊儒 2013 學位論文 ; thesis 113 zh-TW
