To fulfill the availability and real-time requirements, the process information systems are traditionally designed by professional information technology people. Traditional software development methodologies require much leading time for function clarification before starting the coding, and do not allow significant or frequent function changes during the coding stage. Since people running steel plant wants to accomplish Total Quality Management (TQM) to pursue excellence, and improve the processes continuously. That is why steel plant operation people always try to develop the software for themselves. The End User Computing (EUC) is a kind of software developing methodology that the operation people gain high user satisfaction from it. Even though the performance and stability of now-a-day hardware and software have already met the requirements in Computer Integrated Manufacturing (CIM) field, and more and more successful EUC records are found in steel plant, there is still not any Level-2 system developed via EUC. The key reason is the EUC models so far have not defined clearly the way to ensure that end users develop truly real-time application software. The Structure-Behavior Coalescence (SBC) architecture was introduced in this research as the solution. The necessary components are constructed from the design team and software/hardware platform in steel plant as the first step, and interactive behaviors among them are derived as the second step. Components and operations were decomposed and described from the ''design-team'' and ''software/hardware platform'' via structure view and behavior view. The Architecture-oriented Steel-plant process control End User Computing Model is then built with fully and clearly description. This thesis defines ''Steel Plant EUC Architecture Description Language'' in the beginning, and fabricates ''Steel Plant EUC Model'' then. ''Steel Plant EUC Model'' includes: Architecture Hierarchy Diagram, Framework Diagram, Component Operation Diagram, Component Connection Diagram, Structure-Behavior Coalescence Diagram, and Interaction Flow Diagram. This model has been realized and validated in a steel plant. William S. Chao 趙善中 2013 學位論文 ; thesis 103 zh-TW
