Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立中山大學 === 政治學研究所 === 101 === This thesis explores what adjustments and responses China, the country with highest carbon emissions in the contemporary world, adopted for confronting pressures of international climate politics based on “the second image reversed” approach. First of all, this thesis elucidates the essence of international climate politics through the discussion to “the provision of global public goods” and “prisoners’ dilemma” respectively. Second, this thesis examines the “ideational change” and analyzes the logics of China’s responsive measures when confronting the pressures from international climate politics. The research discovers that the pressures of international climate politics cause huge impacts to China’s political, economic and social levels. In political level, the pressure results the bureaucratic conflicts between central and municipal departments. In economic level, the pressure motivates China to construct its own carbon transaction system in order to efficiently control the costs of carbon emissions. In the social level, the pressure modifies the cognition of Chinese people and further influence the social attitude to climate change. Finally, through this inquiry of the case study of China, this thesis reexamines the research framework and the applicability of “the second image reversed” theory.
