The purpose of this study is to investigate the construction and measurement of scour monitoring system in Suanyen Bridge pier foundation. The present study describes the technology of using fiber optic sensor and its application range. Then, a series of on-site bridge scouring data is collected and some measurements including reliable ersion and water level information have been done in the year of 2012. However, there still exists no significant recorded erosion information for futher analysis due to the limitation of measuring time interval. Nonetheless, the experience of installation monitoring system in this study may provide useful reference for other bridge. Also, it is expected to obtain sufficient information from the present monitoring system in the bridge foundation to determine the maximum erosion depth and occurring time during typhoon-induced flooding period.
