Summary: | 碩士 === 國立屏東教育大學 === 華語文教學碩士學位學程 === 101 === The following is a self-narrative article pertaining to a life story of aspiration for progression in the “teaching profession”. The first chapter investigates the researcher’s opinions on the subjects of professional teachers and teaching profession, as well as the events which triggered the two to swap. The second chapter illustrates the researcher’s teaching environment chronologically, followed by the three stages of this research established through the self-narrative perspective: self-discovery stage, context-linking stage, and comprehension stage.
The third chapter, titled “Music Literacy Cultivation”, discusses themes such as improving children’s behaviors through musical studies, changes in private piano lessons, life-changing decisions, and polishing one’s musical skills. Moreover, the researcher’s endeavor to become a professional teacher is recounted through the researcher’s musical trek, coupled with various personal and social factors. The fourth chapter, titled “Evolution of a Music Teacher”, illustrates the realization of knowledge and practice from work experience. As a result of reciprocity in social and personal experiences, the researcher transformed from a teacher and a club advisor to a full-fledged music teacher. After a revolutionary change in the education system, the researcher adapted to a new curriculum for students to have an extensive learning experience. Within the learning environment, the entire personal experience can be reshaped, and social interactions may incite and develop the link between “teaching” and “learning”. Whilst in the educational revolution, personal experiences were incorporated in the lessons. By reorganizing stories of educational revolution, the establishment of identity and communication with other communities’ social existences can trigger comprehension for teaching and resonance for learning. The fifth chapter, titled “Music Meets Language”, reflects upon the definition of individual work from the perspective of a professional teacher. With topics such as English and I – Inseparable, Post-stimulus Selection: Chinese Language Teaching, Fearless 2010, Chinese Summer Camp 2010, and Changes in People and the Surroundings, the encounter with different languages throughout the teaching career is documented. Along the path as a teacher, the drive for my social existence is realized from teaching behavior characterization, while the teaching profession is derived from self-embraced values of life.
Finally, the sixth chapter identifies the self-learning experience through the exploration of personal history, as well as how to share this limited resource with the students. Through learning from various things in my life, the concept provoked me to continuously acquaint, expand, and carry out another chapter in the life-long learning process. Hence, I strive to integrate professional teacher and teaching profession.
