The quasi experiment deisgn was adopted in this study. The study objects were 54 students from two fourth- grade classes in one elementary school. The two classes were randomly divided into the experimental group and the comparison group. Students in the experimental group received STS approach teaching on green energy, while students in the comparison group received traditional lecture approach on the topic . Students in the two groups took the “Questionnaire on Green Energy” before and after teaching and the one- way ANOVA was carried out to analyze students’scores of the questionnaire. Meanwhile, the qualitative data, such as the working sheets, posters, fieldnotes of student interviews, and teacher’s teaching diaries were collected and analyzed in order to illustrate the different performance between the two groups. The findings of the study were as follows: 1. The analysis showed that there were significant differences on the awareness and sensitivity, action skills, and action experiences of green energy between the students of experimental group and of the comparison group. The findings showed that STS approach teaching on Green Energy can improve students’ awareness and sensitivity, action skills, and action experiences of green energy more effectively. 2. The indicated that there were no significant differences on the concept and knowledge, values and attitudes of green energy between students in the experimental group and in the comparison group. The findings showed that STS approach teaching and traditional lecture approach on Green Energyhad equaleffects on students’ concept and knowledge, values and attitudes of green energy. . 3. From the qualitative data, it was showed that both the students in experimental group and in the comparison group progressed a lot in awareness and sensitivity, concept and knowledge, values and attitudes, action skills and action experiences after taking the green energy instruction,. Based on the results and conclusions of this research, some suggestions were provided for the institutions of education, school, teachers, and future researches.
