The research took elementary pupils who studied in public elementary schools of Kaohsiung City in 2012 as subjects, used self-made “questionnaires of the elementary school senior pupils’ attitude towards people with disabilities” as research tool to take samples from 18 schools by stratified cluster sampling, then, and took samples from one class of senior grade in each school by random sampling, and there were 864 effective questionnaires returned. Finally, all the data received were analyzed by t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson’s correlation etc., and the conclusions were as follows: 1. The cognition of senior pupils in elementary schools of Kaohsiung City towards people with disabilities is generally positive; their cognition toward “the demand of people with disabilities” is relatively good. 2. The affection of senior pupils in elementary schools of Kaohsiung City towards people with disabilities is generally positive; their affection towards “the evaluation of people with disabilities” is relatively good. 3. The behavior tendency of senior pupils in elementary schools of Kaohsiung City towards people with disabilities is generally positive; their affection towards “spontaneous behavior” is relatively good. 4. Among the sources of senior pupils’ cognition in elementary schools of Kaohsiung City towards people with disabilities, “personal contact” has the highest proportion; among the people who affect the view of students towards people with disabilities, “classmates and friends” has the highest proportion. 5. Among the senior pupils in elementary schools of Kaohsiung City, the female students whose frequency of contacting is “extreme contact” and whose category of contacting is “Neuromusculoskeletal and Movement related Functions & Structures” show a relatively good cognition towards people with disabilities. 6. Among the senior pupils in elementary schools of Kaohsiung City, the female students who are in 5th grade, whose frequency of contacting people with disabilities is “extreme contact” and whose category of contacting is “Neuromusculoskeletal and Movement related Functions & Structures” and whose schools have no special education class for the disabled pupils will have a relatively positive attitude towards disabled people. 7. Among the senior pupils in elementary schools of Kaohsiung City, the female students who are in 5th grade and study at schools which have no special education class as well as whose frequency of contacting people with disabilities is “extreme contact” will have active behavior tendency towards people with disabilities. 8. The better cognition towards people with disabilities the senior pupils in elementary schools of Kaohsiung City have, the more positive affection they will show; the more positive affection towards people with disabilities they show, the more active their behavior tendency will be; the better cognition towards people with disabilities they have, the more active their behavior tendency will be. Based on the research conclusions, the author provided some suggestions to the school authority, teachers, pupils and future researches for references.
