The high mobility of nodes, uncertainty of connection, interference from buildings, and topographical conditions make it difficult for route mechanisms in VDTNs to perform as well as they are in MANETs and DTNs. In order to reach greater efficiency, this thesis proposed a bus-system-based route mechanism in VDTNs. It is a data transmission structure based on buses and bus stops. The conditions like tight bus schedules, regular bus routes, and prediction on estimated time of arrival, combining with characteristics such as fixed positions of bus stops, continuous power, faster transmission speed, better computation capability, and greater buffer capacity, prevent packets from randomly flooding. This architecture could lower the amount of control packets, shorten delay of packets, cut down on the power consumption of on board units (OBU), and reduce computation capability to improve the overall efficiency of VDTNs.
