Not only does it affect the appearance, but also makes it harder for them to chew properly. It further affects the absorption of nutrition, and raises a red flag for the health condition in the long run. This research seeks to understand the motivation for them to undergo tooth implantation, and to comprehend whether tooth implantation is effective in improving their chewing ability and further reform their health condition. This is a qualitative research with five case studies that were selected first by purposive sampling with patients recommended by dentists. Snowballing sampling method was then applied to locate more samples recommend by the interviewees. Semi-structured interviews were conducted, and content analysis was performed on the verbatim transcription. Finally, through the comparison of the case studies, the similarity and the diversity were summarized and concluded. With the preliminary research, several aspects were identified as the motivation: improvement of chewing ability, maintenance of a nice appearance and advancement of health condition. The concerning factors include: economic, safety, support from the family, the skill-excellence and reputation of the dental clinics. Most of them claimed to be satisfied with the implantation and had improved health conditions, which conformed with the motivation and demand of tooth implantation.
