Summary: | 碩士 === 國立高雄師範大學 === 教育學系 === 101 === The case study focuses the teaching steps of story-writing with electronic picture books, to experiment the possibilities of any effective strategies, through which in teaching we will encounter different problems and seek possible solutions. Furthermore, the study is to take a deeper research about the influences of electronic picture books to students’ story-writing achievements. The results could be helpful references to teachers conducting similar teachings.
From Picture books Garden website, provided by Council for Cultural Affairs, we did the story-writing teachings with the following books, “The Cook Ar Nuo”, “The Crazy Thing in the Farm”, “Problem with DuoDuo's Big Trouble”, “Farley Farts” and “The Happy Witch Gets a Broom”. The teachings consist of eight processes of “find out the leading characters and make a short conclusion”, “repeat the story outlines”, “do the story chain”, “write the study sheets”, “observer peers’ works”, “point out the peers’ advantages”, and “make a summary by the teacher”.
The participants’ works made obvious improvement in following aspects: the rationality of the plot, creativity, sentence fluency, smooth story chain, use of punctuation and vocabulary. Moreover, during story-writing class they also react better in listening to stories, expressing self-opinions, writing and studying attitudes.
With proper strategies, story-writing teaching via electronic picture books is surely found effective, and by understanding the needs of students, the teacher adjust strategies to mend some drawbacks from story-writing teaching. The study results show that systematic and step-by-step execution of electronic picture books in a class aids to story-writing ability and make students’ writing skills and attitudes better.
