However, Francis Poulenc’s Trio for Piano, Oboe, and Bassoon, Op. 43 departs from the style of Neo-Classical. The use of harmonic language is innovative and colorful. Poulenc is especially talented for his lyricism and his gift for melody, so his music seems familiar yet fresh. It is the purpose of this dissertation to make a complete and thorough analysis from the details of texture, form, phrase, motive, and performance interpretation in the three movements of this trio.
