Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立高雄師範大學 === 地理學系 === 101 === Abstract The Puzih region in the Qing Dynasty originated “Hoshukan” with military function. Later, because of trade developed , commercial street appeared. With the river diversions and deposit of Niuchao Creek, “Hoshukan Street” was renamed “Puzhaijao Steet”, representing the decline of the port function. During the Japanese Occupied Period, “Puzhaijao Street” changed its name to “Puzih Street”, and the administrative area was expanded into the nearby 11 rural settlements. The population of Puzih Street was increasing, there were many positive factors to support it. Besides agricultural production , Puzih Street had better manufacturing techniques compared to the Qing Dynasty. After the World War II , The Puzih region continued positive growth in 1971 reached 50,000 population peak. But lost to urbanization torrent, the population began to reduce. The sum of population of 5 settlements in Puzih City including Puzih, Siachuwei, Yingchaipu, Dakanglang, and part of Sianghe New Village is over half of Puzih City’s population, and it is the population center of Puzih City. This also reflected the fact that Puzih City is closely tied with Dongshih Township in the west and with Chiayi City and Sianghe New Village in the east. With the increasing of Taibao City and Sianghe New Village in Puzih City, the development of Puzih and Taibao City will be affected by Sianghe New Village.
