Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立高雄第一科技大學 === 國際管理碩士學位學程 === 101 === The topic of Taiwanese FDI in China has not received a great deal of attention from scholars. Most of the papers available focus on regional distribution of Taiwanese investments in China. In my thesis I want to use qualitative approach to investigate what are the trends of Taiwanese FDI in China and what are the determinants that make Taiwan’s firms invest in the Mainland. I use secondary data to discover what is the regional distribution and sectoral composition of Taiwanese firms in China and I use interviews with three Taiwanese companies to find the determinants of their FDI decisions. My results show that Taiwanese investors prefer coastal areas from inland locations because of better infrastructure and business climate. Moreover, the results show that most of the invested companies are from manufacturing industries. As for the determinants of FDI decision, the most important finding is that market-seeking has been the main motivation for all of the interviewed companies. This study provides some valuable insights into foreign investors’ decision making as well as recent trends for Taiwanese investment in China.
