This study based on the theory of competitive advantage ( Porter, 1985) , used secondary data collection and semi-structured interviews method to interview four cases in the fastener industry . Using the face to face interview with higher position managers let people get to understand the processes, strategies and results when Taiwan''s fastener manufacturers using incremental innovation to explore and develop a progressive and innovation architecture.
This study tends to the effect of incremental innovation on differentiation competitive advantages of fastener industry and shows when the firms implement the incremental innovation can make the firms be more competitive through four directions of incremental innovation : First, firms can re-examine the process of innovation and improvement of equipment; second, firms focus on special screws for the main direction of development and upgrades for its products ; and then with, the establishment of self-brand firms actively expand self-image; finally, companies use computerized systems to effectively improve organizational efficiency and production efficiency to achieve the best condition . Taiwan''s fastener industry use incremental way to integrate innovation strategies to improve their own resources and make the competitive differentiation.
